At La Vaca Gigante, the challenge doesn’t begin when the horn sounds. It begins much earlier. It begins within me.

My name is Nano Riego, and facing one of the biggest waves in Europe is not just about strength, technique, or bravery. It’s a deep conversation with the ocean, with the respect it deserves, and with the awareness that every decision out there truly matters.

But this year, my challenge goes beyond surfing.

Every wave I attempt to ride at La Vaca Gigante has a greater purpose: to support the work of Fundame, an NGO that works every day to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, supporting them with commitment, closeness, and real opportunities for the future.

That’s why every paddle toward the peak is not just mine.
Every wipeout, every achievement, and every emotion is part of something collective.
A real opportunity to transform lives, to add support, and to build a better future.
